Greece is a historic and beautiful place to visit if you even get a chance to go there but how do you get around the country if you fly in? There are a few ways you can get around but if you want to be in control of your destinations and the amount of time you want to spend there, you need to rent a car. There are two times you can get a car; before you leave the airport and before you leave your original country. Here is how you can get a rental car no matter which way you choose to get a car.

Booking a rental car before you leave your country can be done by calling ahead to the rental car company or by going online and reserving a car with a credit card. This way will allow you to reserve a car to make sure that you will have a car when you land in Greece. There will be nothing stopping you when you go up to the counter to get your keys.

Now if you are going to rent a car when you land, you need to be prepared that you might not get a car because all of the cars have been rented out already. The odds of this happening are very slim because there is usually at least three rental car companies located in the airport terminal. Just remember if you wait until you land, you need that country’s currency.

When visiting Greece, you will find yourself immersed in a rich cultural experience. With ancient historical sites, beautiful landscapes including both the mountains and the sea, and inspiring art museums, you will be left breathless as you take in everything Greece has to offer. While you are planning your trip, be sure you rent a car so that you can navigate through the history with ease and efficiency.

While you are in Greece, you should plan to take a journey through several of the historical archaeological sites. My top recommendations are The Acropolis of Athens, Delphi, Olympia, and Epidaurus. If you are interested in museums showcasing unique Greek artifacts, art, theater, and scientific achievements, you will find over 300 to choose from! There are also many events and festivals throughout the year that you can enjoy. Most notably, the Athens Concert Hall contends to be the most modern concert hall in the world. Check out their

website for information on events. If you plan to visit Greece during the summer months, The Hellenic Festival is the place to be hosting some of the most important Greek events.

In addition to all the archaeological sites, museums, and concert venues, you will find amazing food unlike anything you’ve ever tasted. Every ingredient is fresh and the water is the most pure, you will find you cannot replicate Greek food anywhere else in the world!

If you haven’t been to Crete before, but are planning a trip there, you are in for a truly wonderful experience. And if you have been to Crete before and are going there again, you know just how beautiful it is.

Because Crete is such a wonderful place to visit, most people naturally assume that it is very expensive. While there is no denying that it is easy to spend a lot of money in Greece, if you are smart about how you plan your trip, you can travel to Greece and thoroughly enjoy yourself on a reasonable budget.

Since hotels can be one of the biggest travel expenses that you incur during a trip, here is a list of multiple hotels that are all very nice but still offer extremely reasonable rates:

Casa Leone: Not only is this hotel attractive thanks to its $162 a night price tag, but it also has a view of Greece that is absolutely beautiful.

Ammos Hotel: With rooms that run an average of $169 a night, this is another extremely reasonably place to stay in Crete. If you are looking for a hotel where you can relax and enjoy yourself to the fullest, this is the place for you to stay.

Hotel Aegean Sky: If want to stay somewhere that has a home away from home feel while you are in Crete, you won’t be disappointed by this hotel. You can expect to pay around $180 a night to stay here.

Vilelmine S.A: With an average price of $117 a night, you simply can’t beat the value offered by this hotel. When you take into consideration the high level of service and quality you receive for this low price, it’s easy to see why it received a “Traveler’s Choice in 2009.”

Visit a Spartan Location

Filed under: Car Rental In Greece - 15 Sep 2009  | Spread the word !

Many people make their way to Greece for several reasons. There are many great historically significant cities and places of interest but many people want to see where one of the most important battles occurred. Of course the battle did not happen at the actual location of the city of Sparta, but an army of 300 soldiers which came from the area which eventually happened at Thermopylae. The small army of 300 and some other troops were defeated there but not without causing a large disruption in the Persian army of over 7000 soldiers. This is a great location that has been popularized by the recent cinema graphic films that chronicled the great battle. The city of Sparta is a beautiful place to visit that is a history buff’s dream. Of course it is much different than it was more than 2000 years ago, but some of the original buildings are still there to look into and research.

To be able to see such great historical areas in Greece, it is important to look into the various different options available in transportation. Of course you could always take a bus or taxi, but they are either time consuming or expensive. Taking advantage of a car rental option is certainly an option to look into. Car rentals are easy to set up online and reservations could be done as far in advance as you please if you know your travel dates, often saving you money by reserving in advance. The further in advance that you book your rental will often produce a larger selection of vehicles to choose from as well. Take advantage of everything that you have available to you during your trip to Greece by using a car rental option to get you around.

Don’t Let a Bad Hotel Ruin Your Time in Athens

Filed under: Car Rental In Greece - 04 Sep 2009  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

There is really nothing worse than taking a vacation to somewhere that you are very excited about, only to realize all too soon that the hotel where you are staying at is completely awful. Although it’s easy to get over a lot of different things during a trip, an awful hotel experience is one of those things that can truly ruin your entire experience.

To ensure that you have the best time possible in Athens and stay in a hotel that you actually like, here are some solid recommendations that you can count on providing you with a top notch hotel experience:

AVA Hotel Athens: Although this isn’t a hotel that everyone is going to be able afford, if the price tag of $316 a night doesn’t turn you away, you will really love this hotel. People always talk about how great this hotel is, and there is one reason for that: because it truly is. This hotel always has a very loyal customer base, and there’s one reason for that as well: after people stay here once, they don’t want to stay anywhere else when they are in Athens.

Centrotel Hotel: If you are looking for something that better fits your budget, the Centrotel Hotel would be a great choice for you. Although the rooms here only run $125 a night, that rate still gets you a very nice room and a staff that couldn’t be any more helpful.

Eridanus Hotel: If you want a hotel that is in between the two we have already discussed, your best bet will probably be the Eridanus Hotel. At $255 a night, the rate isn’t outrageous, but it’s also high enough that you can count on getting some extra perks while you are here.

Car rentals is Greece are impossible to pass up!

Filed under: Car Rental In Greece - 04 Aug 2009  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

My wife and I just got back from the most amazing trip either of us have ever been on to Athens Greece. It was truly the trip of a life time, and there is so much history in and around Athens that you will just be completely blown away! One thing that made the trip so worthwhile was renting our own car in Athens, if we hadn’t we would never have seen even half on the most amazing sights that either of us had ever seen in our whole lives!

I was just planning on getting a couple Eurorail passes for my wife and I, but since she is a bit more travelled than I am, she suggested that we just rent a car since we really weren’t going to be travelling to any other cities than Athens. Not only did it save us a nice little chunk of change but if you have never experienced driving in a European city like Athens, you have never lived! I fancy myself a pretty good driver, but I have to tell you, after driving around Athens my skills are now through the roof. It’s nothing like driving back here in the states, I can tell you that!

Getting an international drivers license was considerably easier than I would have imagined as well. Luckily we have AAA insurance and they really facilitated both of us getting out licenses. Plus an international drivers license is as good or better than a passport so you don’t have to carry around the one document you need to get back in the country. I’ve lost my passport before and it was one of the biggest hassles in my entire life!

The car rental agency that we used in Athens was ACE car rental and from the people we talked to that we met on out trip it is the best car rental place in Greece, so by all means if you have the chance you should definitely use them to get some wheels!

Getting a Great Car Rental in Greece

Filed under: Car Rental In Greece - 14 Jul 2009  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Greece is a very nice tourist destination. It is important to remember that Greece is an island nation and has plenty to do and see around the entire island. It is important to have a reliable vehicle that can be used to get you where you need to be as soon as you arrive at the airport. By taking the time to reserve your car rental in Greece online, you could save time and money as well as the regret of not reserving a vehicle once you get there. Many people will tell you that a popular tourist destination like Greece will have very limited car rental options during high travel traffic periods such as holidays.

It is important to have your vehicle reserved so that you can have the vehicle you need while visiting Greece. You could simply reserve your vehicle online and browse through a comparative search site for car rentals and find a low cost, yet reliable car for your Grecian trip. Make sure to choose any additional options you need and place your reservation. Doing so in advance also gives you the advantage of saving money by locking in the rate of the time you reserved the vehicle, avoiding the price hikes during periods of high demand for vehicles.

You can easily get yourself to a point in which you are ready for your trip and have your vehicle ready and waiting for you at the airport. Imagine coming into Greece, getting your luggage and simply skipping the long wait in line to receive your vehicle and explore. You are now enjoying Greece without limits on transportation and you could even take advantage of a fuel efficient or hybrid vehicle. That way you do not need to worry about fueling your vehicle as much during the course of your trip.

The Hellenic Festival: Running between June and September, this is an amazing festival that includes dance and music performances, as well as plenty of theatre.

Enjoy Wine Tasting: Greece is home to some amazing wine cellars, and luckily for you, most of these cellars offer public tastings. As long as you call at least one day in advance, you should have no trouble arranging a wine tasting session. If you come across any wine that you really love, you’ll be able to buy your own bottles of it.
